We’re back! Today’s discussion centers around ensuring software integrity. Micky and Brian walk us through their four key points: unit testing, ant testing, continuous integration testing, and functional testing. We discuss the how and why in ColdFusion development for the enterprise.
Is there anything you’d like us to elaborate on regarding our points about testing? Let us know! Post your comments here and let’s see if we can help you out in future episodes.
We also discussed ColdFusion Meetup, and other software products such as the great MXUnit, Selenium for functional testing, Cruise Control and ANT.

Totally up with Unit testing and this podcast was a great pointer to start understanding what it is. My tumble into OOP is a great example in fact. I was coding while listening to you guys and bam, ran into an error and I was already wishing I had some kinda of unit testing in place.
I couldn’t figure out where the error was either coming from the service or the gateway and from understanding your podcast and my reading on OOP I could have easily found out ahead of time instead of running over all my damn components to turn on output.
Definitely going to help me in rewriting my old community build application.
Another great podcast guys!
BTW, the coldfusionmeeting.com group is AWESOME!

Hey guys, thanks for the podcast, and for the mention of the CFMeetup. Yep, if you last looked at it a few years ago, it’s changed quite a bit.
Steven Erat originally created it in 2005 while he was with Adobe. His duties pressed and it started to languish a bit, so he stepped down at the end of 2006. I took it on and since early 2007 I’ve tried to have speakers weekly, as you noted, Thursdays at noon and/or 6pm US Eastern time.
It’s all entirely online, and there’s no signup required. If anyone can’t get to meetup.com (the group is one of thousands of meetups there) to see the announcements , they can also follow us on twitter at @cfmeetup, or even follow the Adobe Group (http://tinyurl.com/adobegroupscfmeetup).
You mentioned forums, and while both the original meetup.com site and the Adobe Groups site have forums, they’re not really the significant value for the group (they’re not heavily used). It’s really the presentations which are our bread and butter.
And you mentioned having your guys speak: absolutely, I’d welcome that and indeed anyone who would like to present, on any topic related to CF, new or old, beginner or advanced, and whether one is a new or experienced speaker. I always point out that with now more than 2,000 members (and more who show up or listen to recordings but are not), there’s always an audience for any topic, even if it may seem niche.
Finally, as you noted, all the sessions are indeed recorded. We’ve had over 110 presentations since I took over the group, and the URL for the recordings is http://recordings.coldfusionmeetup.com.
I’m not too surprised by your not being too familiar with it: there are so many great resources in the CF community, so I really appreciate the mention. Indeed, in recent shows I’ve started mentioning you guys and the other CF podcasts.
I also list your show on my CF411.com site (another resource many miss, with now over a thousand tools and resources for CFers, in over 125 categories). The podcasts (past and present) are listed specifically at http://www.cf411.com/#cfpod.
Thanks again, and keep up the good work.

Excellent topic – you could easily take each one of those subject areas and make a separate podcast for each one (unit testing, functional, continuous, etc) but Brian did a great job presenting it in an audio only forum.
